A 5% contribution to the TSP gets a 5% agency match for a total of 10%. Doing the math, this FERS person is saving between 17% – 20.6% of their salary towards retirement! Whoa! The contribution rate would increase by 3.6 percentage points for employees who enrolled in FERS before 2013 and by 1.3 percentage points for employees who enrolled in FERS in 2013.
